Stavros is a village and beach in the Akrotiri district of the city of Chania on Crete in Greece with 460 inhabitants. The atmospheric village with its Venetian harbour and beautiful old town was Crete's capital from 1841 to 1971, when it was replaced by Heraklion. One of the highlights of Chania is the old town, which, with its many narrow streets, is directly adjacent to the harbour. The winding streets invite you to take a stroll and offer many gastronomic delights. In the shops, you can buy arts and crafts, jewellery and leather goods.
